Phoenix Mechanical has chosen
Sunsiary to provide "Northern Comfort" solar heating systems.
Sunsiaray is a leader in American solar heating panels. Manufactured in Michigan since 1983, Northern Comfort solar heating panels are constructed of quality material to last.
Specifications include: SRCC certification , aluminum frame, stainless steel fasteners, low iron tempered glass, EPDM gasket with molded corners, glass-reinforced polyiosocyanurate foam, silicone sealant.
The absorber is made with a solid copper sheet with no seams for strength and durability, and uses a highly selective surface with Titanium, Quartz-Oxy-Nitride called Tinox.
TiNOX is a highly selective coating based on Titanium and Quartz representing a significant increase in performance.
TiNOX - designed-roll-coating process (PVD) under vacuum using an electronic beam evaporator with Titanium, Oxygen, and Nitrogen
to form Titanium-Oxy-Nitride.
Quartz is evaporated forming a second antireflex and protection layer.
TiNOX the first environmentally friendly coating that pollutes neither air nor water in it's coating process and is Highly Selective.
Northern Comfort solar heating panels by Sunsiaray,
are the first and only air system in the country
to use this advanced material in their collectors.
Low iron Solite glass is used for glazing. A tensil strength of 6,000 psi, built for strength, quality and durability. Glass instead of polycarbonate as a glazing for efficient operation and long life. Polycarbonate glazing will yellow in time and reduce efficiency.
If heating during the daytime only (9-5 business) Northern Comfort can save you up to 50% off the cost of fuel. If heating day and night, you can save up to 35% off the cost of heating fuel.
Northern Comfort solar panels are even more effective
at saving you money when using them in Dual Mode.
Dual Mode will heat your water year round, plus provide heat to your home in the winter time.
The solar panels will heat the living space until thermostat setting is achieved. Once this temperature is achieved, a damper will close off the solar collector hot air flow to the living space, and redirect the hot air through a heat exchanger connected to your water heater.
Dual Mode systems can work with one or two tank systems.
Your curent
water heater can be used in a two tank system.
Why use a two tank system?
For even more savings! Face it, the Sun does not shine 24/7.
The storage tank stores pre-heated hot water for longer
periods of time when the Sun is not shining.

What happens if the sun doesn't shine all week?
At this point your traditional water heater (left in photo) kicks in and acts as a back up system.
It heats only the smaller
traditional tank,
not the larger storage tank.
Solar hot water can provide even more savings when incorporated with radiant floor heating.
Federal Tax Credits are available to Residential and Business users.
Please consult your tax advisor for specific details.
Residential Tax Credits are available for Residential users who use Northern Comfort heating systems to heat their homes AND
